Miss Christmas…the Movie featuring Rockin’ Robin

If you haven’t caught the film “Miss Christmas” yet, then you still have a chance!  It’s the story of Miss Christmas having to find the perfect tree for her towns big Christmas display.  The film features “Sparkly Christmas Things” by Rockin’ Robin and is the perfect holiday spirit movie for families to enjoy together.   It can be streamed for free right here.

Here is a fun fact. Miss Christmas was filmed in my hometown of Ladner, BC.  They
filmed this movie earlier this year and saw the set for it when it was up in the town.  How cool!! 😀

Please let us know if you watch the film with a comment below.

I Just Can’t Wait for Christmas and the Surrey Tree Lighting Festival

I know it’s only November, but I just can’t wait for Christmas!  I start getting excited on
November 1st as you can tell by the Christmas music, I’ve been listen to constantly. 🙂   I’ve also started my holiday shopping and I can’t wait to get gifts for everyone!  I absolutely love buying gifts for my family and the birds.  Here’s a peek at my list so far…but shhh it’s supposed to be a secret.

We’re also super excited to be performing at Surrey Tree Lighting Festival on November 25 at 2:00PM at the Surrey City Hall Plaza. We can’t wait to perform on the stage with legendary Charlotte Diamond.   She is an award winning artist that I’ve been listening to since I was a little girl. She’s so sweet and is always so fun to see live.

This show is going to be super festive and filled with fun Christmas songs. Later in the day, there will be the HUGE tree lighting ceremony, where they put light up the massive Surrey Christmas Tree.  You won’t want to miss it.

We hope to see you there.

Booking Some Christmas Gigs!

We’ve been working on booking some fun Christmas gigs for the coming holiday months! It sounds like in November we’ll have a couple fun shows for the Christmas season, which means we’ll be singing our new Christmas song!!

I’m super excited to share it with you, this one is super catchy and fun to sing!

We also have a super exciting little tidbit of information for you!

We received word that we’re going to have one of our Christmas songs in a Holiday Hallmark movie! Our song “Sparkly Christmas Things” will be used in the Hallmark film “Miss Christmas”, we are so EXCITED!

The movie premiers on November 5th on the Hallmark Channel, and we can’t wait to see it!! We don’t know how much of the song they’ll use, but we’re sure the movie will be super fun to watch!!

Keep an eye out for that film!

Halloween is Nearly Here!

It’s October 17th, which means that it’s nearly Halloween! Halloween is one of my all-time FAVOURITE holidays because we get to dress up in super fun costumes! The birds and I always have such a great time figuring out what to be, and this year I’m being Little Red Riding Hood! Suiting, huh? 😉 Haha! Dorothy had some trouble figuring out her costume but after a while of going back and forth on a few different ideas she had finally settled on dressing up as Audrey Hepbird.. Hah! Get it??

Dorothy is a classy lady so it made perfect sense! Bazza said he wants to be a surfer, which is no surprise because that’s all Bazza ever is for Halloween.. Marty is going to be a chef! Which I think means he’s going to be cooking AND eating all night!! And the Blackbird Brothers are dressing up as cops! They have these super cool police uniforms! We always have a blast for Halloween, and we spend our night handing out candy at the magical tree, but also doing a little trick or treating ourselves!!

Here are a few tips I have to make sure that your night of Trick or Treating is safe!

  1. Be sure to check both ways before crossing the street! I know it’s exciting to collect candy throughout the night, but it’s dark out and sometimes your costume can make you even less visible! Be aware of the cars on the street!

  2. Wear something reflective or visible! It’s important that people on the streets can see you!

  3. Avoid people lighting off fire crackers and stay away from fireworks! They can be scary, they’re loud and dangerous!

  4. Stick with your family and whoever you’re with! It’s easy to get lost when there is so much going on in one night! Stay close to your family!

I hope this helps you and allows you to have a safe and fun Halloween night filled with trick or treating and fun!

Summer Time Shenanigans!

Summer is my favourite time of year! The sun is shining, and there is so much time for fun activities! The birds and I love spending all of our time outside when it’s a beautiful sunshiny day!

Recently Pippin and I have been going for super long walks and then racing in the park, it’s so much fun!! The birds have recently been really into soccer, so we’ve had quite a few soccer matches. Bazza ALWAYS wins! He’s so athletic! I’m not the best at soccer, but I sure love playing with all of my friends. It’s not about winning anyways, it’s all about having fun and trying your best! Also, it’s great exercise and I always feel so refreshed afterwards.

We actually have a song called “I Love Summer” that’s on our latest record, it’s one of my favourites because Pippin is on the track singing with me! Pippin and I have so much fun singing together.

If you haven’t heard it yet you can find our album “Holiday” on iTunes and Spotify!

Until next time…

Writing Away!

The other day I was so inspired by the earth and decided to write a song!

I think it’s so important to take care of our own backyard, and to do whatever we can to keep our planet clean and healthy! I was walking down the road and noticed multiple plastic cups being thrown into a regular garbage bin, it made me sad to see people putting their waste in the improper bins, so I was inspired to write a song about recycling!!

Recycling is so important, and it can be fun if you make it! I wanted to write a song that will make recycling and taking care of the earth fun! I can’t wait until I can share it with you all.  🙂

And until next time…

What a weekend!

Wow! This weekend was North Vancouver’s Fun City Festival where we did four shows in two days! The first day was beautiful – we finally saw some blue skies after so many days of smoky air! The second day rained for our first set but it did not keep our little dancers away, it was so much fun to have a little rainy dance party. As soon as we sang our song “Sunshiny Day”, the sun came out and stuck around all afternoon! It was so magical 😀

We hung out at the festival for the rest of the day and saw some incredible musicians! We were able to see Dirty Mike and the Boys as well as The Boom Booms, and those two bands are so much fun to groove to!

Fun City was a great day, and I’m so happy we were able to come back this year. We’re heading to Whistler in a couple weeks for 9 shows in 3 days in the Whistler Village! So if you’d like to see us there – we’ll be there between August 25-27!

Until next time…
